I recently turned 30. I definitely survived. Actually, it is not as bad as I expected it. And many reasons why being 30 is not that bad comes from chick flicks. The more I watch them, the more life lessons I learn. With time I do get a little bit wiser. I’m not saying that I ace every situation, all the time, but now I do figure some stuff out too.
However, I couldn’t have gotten here without the guidance and stumbles and occasional downfalls of the many fictional women I’ve seen in chick flicks. Apparently, not all morals seen in chick flicks are advised to be taken to heart. But the very best of them offer lessons for a lifetime. So take them! I gathered the 30 Best Chick Flicks of All Time. It’s a subjective list for a reason. Because I wanted to share with you my top pickings, my 30 best chick flicks and the 30 lessons I learned in my 30 years.
1. Gone with the Wind (1939)
Life Lesson Learned: If there’s a will, there’s a way. It is a story about Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh) a stubborn Southern woman and her hopeless love for a married man. Scarlett also conducts a turbulent romance with a roguish man called Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) while fighting her way through the stormy times of the American Civil War. When Scarlett returns to Tara, she vows never to go hungry again. Eventually, Scarlett becomes a successful businesswoman unheard at that time. I learned from this movie that almost anything can be attained if you make up your mind and put in the necessary work. The only thing that doesn’t work that way is love. But Scarlett will think of some way to get a man back too. “After all... tomorrow is another day.”
